Due to past experiences, we have developed a code of conduct for our visitors. These rules apply equally to the visitors than to the community members and guarantee respectful relationships between host and guest.

  1. If you want to go the rainforest, you must be accompanied by a guide.
  2. Do not leave plastic, glass or any other kind of waste that is not easy to recycle. If you brought it with you, take it out of the community.
  3. Nature offers diverse landscapes and curiosities to take pictures of. If you want to take pictures of community members, you can do it with their previous consent.
  4. If you participate in healings with the rainforest's plants or other resources, please comply with the instructions given by the Yachack.
  5. It is not recommended to take ayahuasca or other natural hallucinogenic plants. If the visitor wishes to try, it is under their own responsibility and complying with all the requirements and instructions given by the Yachak or Shaman.
  6. Given that we want to preserve our lifestyle and workstyle, if you want to stay more days than agreed, plan ahead so we can inform the community.
  7. It is prohibited to lend money to the guides, community members and leaders and employees of the central office.
  8. It is strictly prohibited to take plant, seed or animal from the rainforest. Equally, it is prohibited to extract or patent plant or seed extracts.
  9. Remember that we have different time, space and culture concepts. Please be understanding and respectful; we guarantee that we will comply with the activities we committed to.

We ask our visitors to always comply with the instructions given by our guide and never go away from the group with previous notice. This way, we will avoid inconvenient situations for the visitors and for RICANCIE.

Safety on the paths:

  1. Before touching a branch, make sure that there are no thorns or poisonous insects.
  2. Do not move or pull plants, vines or bushes: we never know what may fall from above.
  3. Do not remove fallen leaves, waste or seeds from the floor, because poisonous insects or snakes may be hidden below.
  4. If you need it, ask for a stick.
  5. If you feel tired, ask for a break.
  6. For your protection, it is recommended to use long-sleeve clothes, a cap or a hat.
  7. It is recommended to use long rubber boots.
  8. In case of long hikes, just bring what is necessary.

Safety in the canoe:

  1. Before the trip, make sure to put on your life jacket and avoid holding on the canoe edges. You could hurt your fingers if the canoe hits another one.
  2. Keep your personal belongings safe, so they don't fall into the water.
  3. When the canoe has picked up speed, don't put objects into the water, as they could get lost. Furthermore, don't put the hands into the river, as you may splash the passengers behind you.
  4. In case of emergency, keep calm until you are told what to do.
